Description
I would classify most of the scenes I saw and captured in Colonial Williamsburg with one word, Americana. And I found that intriguing. So much of the architecture on display there, like the Elkanah Deane house seen here, is Colonial in nature, built before there was a USA.
Yet, when I look at this idyllic street, it very much reminds me of the American ideal, the scenes of America painted by Norman Rockwell.
An interesting dichotomy that the American Dream was already solidified before the independent nation?
Or maybe that makes perfect sense?
Either way, Colonial Williamsburg spoke to me, both the armchair historian as well as the visual artist. I loved the feeling of walking on timeless streets and I loved the beautiful vistas.
