This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

Artist's Description
Portrait of Black Hawk, a prominent Sauk and Fox chieftain, by American painter, author, and traveler George Catlin (1796-1872), dating from c.1830-32. Travelling to the American West five times during the 1830s, Catlin was the first white man to depict Plains Indians in their native territory. In 1832 the Sauk tribe participated in the Black Hawk War against the United States, led by Black Hawk, who remains a cultural hero for Native Americans. After the war, the tribe relocated several times from Illinois to Iowa, Kansas, and finally Indian Territory in the 1870s. Black Hawk was captured after the war by US forces and taken on a tour of eastern US cities. In 1833, Black Hawk published his autobiography, the first by a Native American, and it became an immediate best-seller. He died in 1838, aged 70 or 71.
